UWA has a series of policies and guidelines regarding the use of animals in research work.
The UWA policy, The Use of Animals in Research and Teaching, is the overarching policy; however, it should be read in conjunction with the other policies and guidelines listed below. They include State and national policies, as well as those from UWA.

Approval for new project applications to external funding agencies
Many external funding agencies, for example the NHMRC, require Animal Ethics Committee approval of all animal work involved in a successful grant application before funding may be taken up.
