Postgraduate Writing Retreat

A focus on research of an international quality and the fostering of an outstanding research culture have positioned UWA as one of the best universities in Australia and in the top 150 in the world.

Writing groups are run continuously throughout the year by the Graduate Education Officers.

    Facilitated Writing Space

    One of the most useful strategies for effective progress through your candidature is to develop the habit of writing on a regular basis. Making use of the facilitated writing space gives you the opportunity to get into good writing habits in a supportive environment. You are welcome to discuss your writing with one of the Graduate Education Officers during the session.

    • Time: 1-4pm every Monday 
    • Space: Meeting Room G20, Hackett Hall
    • Requirements: Bring your laptop and some writing to work on.

    Writing Retreats

    Writing Retreats provide space and a supportive environment for you to write and receive feedback from your peers. Some structured learning, in the form of optional workshops are offered as part of the retreat and you can request feedback from a Graduate Education Officer as you write. The retreats are held on the UWA campus and there is no cost to attend. You can find the date of these retreats and registration details in the GRS Events Calendar. Please email Dr Krystyna Haq for more information and/or to express your interest in attending.

    • Research Proposal Writing Retreat: A two day retreat for students early in candidature who are writing their research proposal. Review the retreat program here.
    • Five Day Writing Retreat: Students who are later in candidature are offered a week long retreat. Review the retreat program here
