This workshop aims to give you tips and advice on how to write the Publications and Leadership sections of the NHMRC Investigator Grant

Are you considering applying for an NHMRC Investigator Grant this year? The scheme opens again on October 2nd 2019!

In this workshop we will look at ways to craft the four leadership elements of the application and what types of leadership experience to include. We will also discuss how to select your top 5 publications and how to motivate your choices in just 2000 characters.

Presented by the UWA Research Impact Team, this workshop will give you valuable tools for writing your Investigator Impact statements.

This workshop aims to give you tips and ideas on how to craft your Impact sections. We will go over the relevant guidelines and share some lessons from our past experiences including the latest round of NHMRC Investigator Grants. Using our new custom made impact canvas as a tool we will help you disentangle your impact pathway and formulate your Impact Case Study.

This information session will give you an overview of NHMRC funding schemes, key guidelines, assessment processes, and eligibility criteria.

In 2019 the NHMRC reviewed the structure of its research funding and reformed its grant program. The new program comprises of four funding schemes; Investigator, Synergy, Ideas and Strategic and Leveraging Grants. Whether you are a new applicant or have previous experience, you may have questions about the specific aims and guidelines of each scheme or around eligibility, for example: How many grants can you apply for in each round? How many grants can you hold concurrently?

This information session will cover:

• A broad overview of the new schemes
• Key guidelines
• Assessment criteria
• The assessment process
• Eligibility

The assessment of applications for the inaugural round of the Investigator Scheme has been completed. We invite you to an informal question and answer session with a panel of UWA researchers who were assessors. The assessors will share their experiences and you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the assessment process.

Research publication metrics are key to demonstrating the quality and impact of your publications. In this workshop you will learn where to find the most appropriate metrics for your Investigator Grant application using tools like Scopus and InCites. You will also have the opportunity to work on your own records with the assistance of the HMS library team. They can help you identify your most highly cited publications in the past 10 years and show you metrics beyond citations that demonstrate how people have interacted with your research output.

Prior to the workshop:

• Make sure your have an ORCID and that your publications are up to date (if not; Click Here!)
• Check that you can log in to InCites (use your Web of Science login details or Click Here!) NB ensure that you create your InCites account on a computer on the UWA network. This can be done in the Library if needed.
