ETHITEX Tissue sharing – The ethical approach to animal research Ethitex is a 100% Internet-based solution designed to help researchers to comply with the Australian National health and medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) edict: “Where practicable, investigators should share (tissue) with other investigators...”* Whilst the NHMRC’s jurisdiction is Australian, the values that inspire this edict are held throughout the world. Benefits of Ethitex include: - Reduction in the number of animals used.

- Reduced animal housing cost.
- Provides resources that might not otherwise be available.
- Reduction in compliance costs.
Ethitex Process Resource (tissue) owners publish details of the resources that will not be consumed by their research – including the dates of availability. - Resource seekers search fro resources that they require, or request to be notified when a suitable resources becomes available.
- Parties negotiate the details and terms of the resource transaction (anonymously if required).
- Resource is successfully shared, enhancing both ethical and economic satisfaction for all parties.
