What is the UWA Researcher's Association? The UWA Researcher's Association started as a small, informal network of Research Staff who came together as a result of an intitiative arising out of the recommendations of the 2000 UWA Lake Report on Research Staff. Following a university-wide meeting of Research Staff early in 2001, this small network began working together to improve the visibility of research staff within the University community, and to enhance their work environment and conditions of employment. In 2004, the network was formalised as the UWA Researcher's Association, an association for all Research Staff at UWA. The launch and inaugural meeting of the UWA Researcher's Association was held on 23 Sept 2004. Attendence was high, with some 100 staff attending. At the inaugural meeting, office bearers were elected: President - Sarah Dunlop; Vice president - Vera Morgan; Treasurer - Stuart Hodgetts; Sectretary - Jackie Kent; Committee members - Anne Barden, Trevor Mori, Alec Redwood. The background and aims of the Association were described by A/Prof Sarah Dunlop at the launch and a copy of her Powerfile file may be downloaded here: UWARA Launch presentation 2004. Sarah updated members on the progress made by UWARA in its first year at its first AGM on 19 September 2005.
