Each year, UWA offers a Fellowship to facilitate a person's return to an academic or research career where that career has been affected by family responsibilities.
The Fellowship supports research undertaken independently, or in collaboration with a research team in any school of the University, by a person whose career has been interrupted by family responsibilities including child-bearing or child-rearing.
Any applicant for the scheme must have been classified as holding a PhD or equivalent.
The Fellowship is a three-year full-time or part-time-equivalent post, carrying a salary of up to $70,242 (2009 scales). A Fellowship Support Grant of $6,000 a year (or part-time pro rata) is awarded for expenditure associated with the Fellowship. There is also a relocation allowance.
Advertisements calling for applications appear in The West Australian and The Australian’s Higher Education Supplement in late August of early September each year, with applications closing in late October.
You are encouraged to read the guidelines and conditions for the Fellowship if you are considering applying in future years.
The Selection Panel has the discretion to consider cases that do not fit this pattern precisely, but might still constitute re-entry.
