Animal Ethics is part of the Research Integrity Office, which also includes Human Ethics and Biosafety.

The Animal Ethics team is responsible for:

  • administration and policy issues relating to experimentation on animals, genetic manipulation and biosafety
  • processing research applications for consideration by the Animal Ethics Committee and the Institutional Biosafety Committee to ensure procedural and policy compliance with State Government legislation and associated regulations.

Animal Ethics staff work on applications submitted by researchers, through the Animal Ethics Committee.

In your application, you will need to detail various ethics issues related to animals in your research, noting that the animals do not necessarily have to be animals looked after through UWA's Animal Care Services.
