
Professor Doug McEachern

Biography
Professor Doug McEachern is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and has responsibility for research policy development and general oversight of the University's research activities, postgraduate education, industry liaison, intellectual property and commercialisation. In addition, Professor McEachern is responsible for the strategic uses of Information and Communication Technologies. He has strongly supported eResearch initiatives, the development of access grid room facilities and the use of high performance computing.
Prior to his appointment with UWA, Professor McEachern was the Executive Director for Social, Behavioural and Economic Sciences at the Australian Research Council (ARC) from February 2001 to October 2003. He is the immediate past chair of the Humanities and Social Sciences discipline panel of the Australian Research Council, and member of the ARC's Research Training and Careers Committee.
Professor McEachern was Head of the Department of Politics at the University of Adelaide. He is also a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Adelaide, and has been a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University's Research School of Social Sciences.
Professor McEachern is author of a number of books on business politics, and is the joint author of the internationally acclaimed Environmental Politics of which a new third edition is being prepared.
